Not legal advice

Suitcast identifies risk indicators. It is not legal advice and does not determine compliance. Here is what a score and a lawsuit count mean, and what they do not.
Last updated . 4 sections.

At a glance

  • A score ranks what to fix first
  • It is not a probability of being sued
  • Counts describe filings, not outcomes
  • If a letter arrived, talk to a lawyer

01The statement in full

Suitcast scans public web pages for patterns that appear in lawsuits: tracking scripts that load before a visitor consents, and accessibility failures detected by automated testing. A scan result is a list of risk indicators, not a legal opinion. A low score does not mean a site cannot be sued, and a high score does not mean it will be. Automated testing catches only part of what a court or a plaintiff's expert would look at. Suitcast does not certify, audit or determine compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the California Invasion of Privacy Act, WCAG or any other law or standard. For legal questions about your website, talk to a lawyer.

02What the score is

A number from 0 to 100 built from two automated checks: which known tracking scripts loaded before the consent banner was answered, and which accessibility rules failed on the pages scanned. The rules and weights are published on the methodology page. The number ranks what to fix first; it is not a probability of being sued.

03What the lawsuit counts are

Counts of filings in public court records that Suitcast verified as website cases, grouped by state, industry, law firm and the issues named in the complaint. They describe what plaintiff firms have filed, not what a court decided, and coverage of state courts is partial.

04If you received a letter

Talk to a lawyer. The guides on this site explain what CIPA and ADA website letters usually say and what owners typically do in the first week, so the conversation with your lawyer is faster. Nothing on this site replaces that conversation.
