Scanner policy
How SuitcastBot behaves on the websites it scans, the user agent it identifies with, and the two lines that stop it.
Last updated . 4 sections.
At a glance
- At most one page load per second per website
- Reads and obeys robots.txt before loading anything
- Never submits forms, logs in or clicks Accept
- Stops at 5 pages on a free scan, 100 on a monitored site
- Block it with two lines in robots.txt
01How SuitcastBot behaves
The scanner loads public pages the way a browser does, using a real Chromium browser with the user agent below. It starts at the address entered, follows links on the same hostname, and stops at 5 pages for a free scan or up to 100 pages for a monitored site.
- At most one page load per second per website.
- It reads robots.txt first and does not load pages that robots.txt disallows for SuitcastBot or for all crawlers. A Crawl-delay directive of up to 5 seconds is honored.
- It never submits forms, never logs in, never clicks Accept in a consent banner, and never loads pages behind an account, a cart or a checkout.
- If a site's security service challenges or blocks it, the scan stops and reports that the site could not be checked, never that it is clean.
- It scans only public hostnames, never private networks.
02User agent
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; SuitcastBot/1.0; +https://suitcast.com/scanner-policy)
03How to block it
Add these lines to your robots.txt and the scanner will skip your site on its next visit:
User-agent: SuitcastBot Disallow: /
04Who runs scans
Scans are started by people who enter a website address on suitcast.com, usually the site's owner or the agency that manages it. Suitcast does not crawl the web on its own. To ask about a scan of your site, email support@suitcast.com with the address.
